i realize i've never been in this position before
wishin for more answers but cant ask the questions

it feels better to think that you controlled your fate
it's odd how cold it's made the roads we paved
because of our bond, and how close we stayed
your friends flock to me, moths to an open flame
i drive around the block like we used to do
play some ball at the park where we used to shoot
i post up on your half-broken useless stoop
by myself, every friend i have - you introduced me to
i cant talk to them, i feel the need to improve
yet i spend my nights drunk, half-asleep in my room
passed out by midnight, up tweekin' at noon
if my liver fails, at least a part of me will be with ya soon
i dont drink in your memory, i drink in my death
i drink so you remember me, so drinking's a test
i won't accept help, even though half of my acts
...involve begging for it, where's the passion in that?
my future's without you, but my past is intact
and the pain is the closest i'll ever get to having you back
but maybe one life's enough,

on point, immaculate flow, conversational, and every drop of wordplay fits

this was fucking dope, i reread and left the lines i was really feeling, and bolded the ones that really reflected on myself and some close friends i lost in iraq or afghanistan.
